Every hour of every day, a child and their family leave Northeastern Ontario to receive care elsewhere.
NEO Kids Foundation, recently unveiled by Health Sciences North, aims to raise funds for children’s services, equipment, and research at the hospital so families can stay closer to home. The goal of NEO Kids Foundation is to ensure as many children as possible can stay in Northeastern Ontario to get the care they need, in a child and youth-centred environment.
We believe in bettering our community and the mandate of this project allowed us to help make a real impact where it matters most—on families and children, our community’s most vulnerable population.
The concept behind the brand is a simple one: we all have a wish. For NEO Kids Foundation, it is a wish to raise funds to help the hospital improve their ability to treat young patients. For those who are suffering, it is a wish to heal, to grow and to be transformed. No matter where these youth find themselves on their healing journey, every single one of them hopes to improve their health. Making a wish before blowing into a dandelion is an activity everyone can relate to, making this mark immediately impactful.
To familiarize the community with the new kid in town, we produced several branded marketing pieces including stationery, print publications, exhibit signage and social media graphics.
On the digital front, we designed and developed a custom WordPress website that introduces the Foundation, highlights local events, informs the community on the importance of donating and tells the stories of local patients who have had to travel away from the Northeast for treatment. Most importantly, we designed a streamlined user interface that drives donations with multiple lead-ins.
We also used the website as an opportunity to solve a long-standing logistical issue of updating the Foundation’s physical donor wall within the hospital. We designed and built a new digital donor wall that is directly linked to the website’s content management system.
This digital wall, made up of two 60-inch, 4K displays, pulls content directly from the WordPress back-end, simplifying the update process and cutting down on administrative time and costs.
A strong, memorable brand has helped NEO Kids Foundation become the charity of choice in Northeastern Ontario. We continue to help the Foundation work towards its ultimate goal of building a stand alone centre dedicated to NEO Kids.
